Rapper Juvenile Arrested on Pot Charge

Rapper and New Orleans resident Juvenile faced charges of marijuana possession when he and a friend were arrested Thursday afternoon.

According to police records, a neighbor noticed an overpowering smell of marijuana wafting from the home of a friend, where the famed hip-hop star Juvenile, whose actual name is Terius Gray, was visiting. Police were immediately notified.

Reportedly, when Leroy Edwards, one of Juvenile's producers, opened the door and greeted the St. Bernard Sheriff's officers, they were met with clouds of marijuana smoke trying to escape. When the policeman searched Edwards, they came across a small amount of the drug in question and immediately placed him in cuffs.

The arresting officers suspected there was a possible larger stash of drugs on the premises, so they requested a search warrant, one was granted and they stumbled upon a half-ounce of marijuana in the kitchen of the home.

Juvenile took the entire blame for drugs that were found, claiming that the marijuana belonged to him, and police also took him into custody. The 34-year-old platinum-selling artist told police he was at the home because he was recording a new CD. Later, officers did find recording equipment which substantiated Juvenile's claims.

Unfortunately, Juvenile has been down this road before. Back in 2008, he was pulled over for driving with an expired tag and police found marijuana in his car. He was arrested in his home state on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.

Again in 2008, Juvenile made headlines when his 4-year-old daughter Jelani was killed, along with her mother Joy Delaston and the woman's daughter Micaiah, 11. All of the victims had been shot and killed by the mom's 17-year-old son Anthony Terrell, Jr.

The rapper, who refused to attend his daughter's funeral, was harshly criticized by the media. Juvenile's decision to not appear at the funeral, he said, was made in order to prevent subsequent media attention and he was convinced that his presence would divert attention away from the ceremony.

Meanwhile, regarding the rapper's latest charges, both he and Edwards were later released on bond.
