After a long and fulfilling life, Betty Ford passed away at the age of 93 last week - and today (July 12) marks the beginning of a series of memorials for the icon.
Earlier this morning, a private service was held in Palm Desert, CA with family members and close friends in attendance to pay their respects to the former First Lady.
Following the visitation, another private memorial took place at St Margaret?s Episcopal Church attended by political figures including current First Lady Michelle Obama and former President George W Bush.
Continuing to receive the sendoff in which she so rightfully deserves, the public will have an opportunity to view Miss Ford?s body at the church from 5 p.m until midnight.
Ford's remains will then depart tomorrow for Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she will again lie in repose.
A final private ceremony will take place at the Grace Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids on Thursday, July 14th before Betty is finally laid to rest next to her late husband, President Gerald Ford, at the Gerald R. Ford Museum.
